How does your program work?
We offer women the opportunity to learn and play the game of golf in a fun and relaxing atmosphere. Operating since 1997, in Edmonton since 2015, our programs include lessons, league play and events at many different courses in and around the city. With us, you can play as little or as much as you like! Everyone takes lessons the first year. After the first year, you can decide if you want more lessons or just join our league.
What are your lessons like?
We offer 10 hours of instruction; 5 weeks x 2 hours each week.
Different golf courses but same women and same PGA of Canada Professional each week.
During the five weeks, we offer swing lessons, short game lessons and on-course play lessons.
All lessons have a group format – Beginner – 8 women; Intermediate – 6 women.
Offer lessons in all quadrants of the city and most courses are near the Anthony Henday.
Often go into clubhouse after each lesson. ElleGolf provides munchies and refreshments.
When you take lessons, you are automatically included in the League!
I’m not very good at golfing?
Golf is a game. Approximately half of our members are beginner, half are intermediate. Whether you have never touched a club or have been golfing for years, we have programs designed for you.
How do I know if I am a Beginner or Intermediate?
If you play 9 holes or prefer to golf 18 holes you are probably an Intermediate. If you’ve only played a few times, or are brand new to the game, or just getting back into the game, or looking for a refresher – Beginner will do you just fine. We have a number of women that take the Beginner program every year.
How does your league work?
It’s a Beginner and Intermediate Fun League. We play nine-holes of golf and we don’t keep track of scores. You can, but we don’t! We play at least two evenings plus one day-time each week. You can play as little or as much as you like! As a member you receive a schedule for the season. We take bookings on a weekly basis. When you want to play, call or email us at ElleGolf. You can book a time on your own or for yourself and one other member. We confirm your tee-time and provide a starter at each league game. You just show up and pay your green fees. When you are new to the game, ask for a buddy. We’ll match you with someone in your foursome who has played for a few years and enjoys golfing with new golfers. It’s a Fun League!
How much are the green fees?
We get discounts at many of the courses we play. Mostly, we pay between $20 and $30 for nine holes.
Do I have to golf every week or on the same night every week?
No. You can play as little or as much as you like. You get the schedule for the season. You only give us a call or email the weeks you want to play and you pick the nights and / or day you want to golf.
What if I book a tee-time but I can’t make it?
Once you have a tee-time, if you can’t make it, just let us know by 6 p.m. the evening before your tee-time. If you want to change a tee-time, again, just let us know by 6 p.m. the evening before.
What if I don’t have golf clubs?
We offer a great Beginner rental program to get you started. Please email us before your first lesson if you are needing golf clubs.
I’m only available in the daytime?
Both lessons and league play are offered during the daytime and evenings.
What type of events do you have?
We offer a number of events with a tournament in June, a day trip in July, a (members-only) wrap-up in August and a weekend in September. Guests are welcome but the deal is, if you bring your spouse, you must golf with them!
What golf courses do you play at?
12+ different courses including Country Side, Dragons Head, Eagle Rock, Hunters Green, Jagare Ridge, Leduc, Lewis Estates, Quarry, Raven Crest, Red Tail Landing, Sturgeon Valley and Twin Willows. We like to add new courses each year! In the league, each week we try to have courses in different sides of town, one for beginners and one daytime. Most courses have easy access from the Anthony Henday!
What if I don’t have anyone to join with?
Many of our members sign up with friends and many come on their own. It’s a great way to meet other women that like to golf without having the responsibility of finding them or keeping a foursome together.
What does it cost?
The Beginner Program is $499 plus GST. The Intermediate Program is $599 plus GST. Both programs include ten hours of instruction and a league membership. Sign up by March 31 and save 10%.
What if I need to cancel?
Oh, no, but if you do, you will receive a full refund (less $50 admin fee) if notice is received 14 days prior to start date; no refund thereafter.
